About Stefani's Butterflies

Stefani is a four year old girl who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. I do not know her mother personally, but I feel a strong need to make a little girl smile and to make her mothers life a wee bit easier. I don't know much about the situation, but I do know that Stefani's current home is a hospital where she is undergoing chemotherapy and expected to beat cancer.

Through Twitter, I've decided to start a sort of fundraiser for Stefani. My thought is that each day someone sends a care package or gift (monetary or what have you) directly to the hospital in which she is staying. I already called the hospital, and got some information, which will help our cause.

With the help of the families' neighbor, Christine, I was able to put this together. Christine also came up with the name, "Stefani's Butterflies" because Stefani LOVES butterflies (Hint Hint).

If you would like to participate, in any way, please leave a comment about what you'd like to send, and include your email address and name. Ideally I would love her to receive something each day that she is in the hospital. It would be great if someone who lives in Toronto could kick it off, so that she may receive something as soon as tomorrow.

If you would like to send money, I will give you her mother's full name. Also consider savings bonds, gift cards, etc..

Most people know what a four year old likes - coloring books, stuffed animals, BUTTERFLIES!!

Her mom is a single mother of five children.

If you would like to donate $$, you can send it via paypal to e.orfanides@gmail.com ... I will send a bank check to the hospital each Friday.

  2. Problem being that we need to send tangible items ... maybe you could mail a regular card? I'm not sure that she has a computer in the hospital with her.

  5. Stefani is now remission and we received this Fantastic and very blessed news in June 2012. We as a family rented a retreat cottage in Tobermory, ON the first week school was out in July 2012 to make use of the hot tub, paddleboats and canoes where we all could have a mini vacation all together as the last two years of Stefani's journey took a big toll on the whole family. This June 2014 she will be 2 years into her 5 year maintenance check-ups and so far all blood counts are normal. We are going through other tests eg. heart, kidney's liver and bones to ensure all those organs are operating and functioning well. We are proud to say Stefani has Beat Cancer and continue to pray the next 3 years her blood counts will remain as they are : PERFECT. Thanks to all the people who sent her books, crayons and craft kits to keep her busy and most of all HAPPY. That was the best medicine to get her through.

  6. Stefani is now 8 years old and had her First Birthday party in Dec 2013 with friends from School. She selected Bowling but due to the time of year only 2 girls showed up out of 9. But with the rest of the family around she was happy anyway. And she did really good at the bowling.

  7. Today is January 13th, 2016 and Stefani is continuing her remission status now in her 4 year. She has one more year in remission maintenance to go. She is in grade 5 and we are very thankful for the prayers by the hundreds that were said on a daily basis when her counts were compromised and she wasn't doing well. She has an appointment at Grand River Hospital Feb 1st for a follow-up and blood tests with Dr. Cresswell. We are looking forward to seeing him and all the nurses that contributed to her care.
